RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) regulates the use of toxic substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chrome) in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment. Such substances have been restricted from use since July 2006.
REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment through the early identification of chemical substance intrinsic properties, specifically those imported materials (1 ton or more annually) within the EU.
